Hi, I'm Kris! Thanks for joining my creative adventure. I like to make things with fabric and lately I've been getting into improving my photography skills.

I'm a born and raised Minnesotan from Minneapolis, but I currently live in Ann Arbor, MI. I learned to sew from my now 96-year-old grandma when I was a little kid. There were a couple of summers I got to spend time at Grandma's house while my parents were working during the day. As my grandma tells it, I begged her to teach me how to use the sewing machine and I'm so glad she was willing to teach me (hence the name of the blog). I took a few more classes in middle and high school, but mostly I find things I like and figure out how to make them.
For a while I mostly just sewed things for "pragmatic" reasons (sewing home dec projects when I can't find something in a store or hemming pants), but now I mix that kind of sewing with quilting and other bigger crafting projects.
In case you're curious, this is what
my sewing space looks like.
Please don't hesitate to leave comments, give feedback or ask questions, I really do enjoy it and I like getting to know all of you creative people! If you want to drop me an email instead, go for it. My email address is summeratgrandmashouse [at] gmail [dot] com.
