About Me

Hi, I'm Kris! Thanks for joining my creative adventure.

I learned to sew from my now 97-year-old grandma when I was a little kid. There were a couple of summers I got to spend time at Grandma's house while my parents were working during the day. As my grandma tells it, I begged her to teach me how to use the sewing machine and I'm so glad she was willing to teach me (hence the name of the blog). I took a few more classes in middle and high school, but mostly I find things I like and figure out how to make them.

For a while I mostly just sewed things for "pragmatic" reasons (sewing home dec projects when I can't find something in a store or hemming pants), but now I mix that kind of sewing with quilting and other bigger crafting projects.

Please don't hesitate to leave comments, give feedback or ask questions, I really do enjoy it and I like getting to know all of you creative people! If you want to drop me an email instead, go for it. My email address is summeratgrandmashouse [at] gmail [dot] com.
