Wrapping up June

Where did June go??

Here are the blocks I did for Nannette (aka Nanotchka). For Blocks of a Feather, we do two blocks but have two months to work on them. This time I really dragged my feet because she sent awesome fabric (the Oz line from Momo) and said to do "our specialty."

I didn't really know what my specialty was, but in the end settled on a modern abstract 9 patch and a block with circles since I love them so much.

I'm curious... Is there something that comes to your mind that would be my specialty? Do you have something that might be called your specialty?

  1. I love the tiny gingham in these blocks. Gotta get some to add to my stash. How about describing your style as "organic"? I say that because you do modern blocks, but they aren't austere. There is a cheerfulness and warmth to them if that makes sense.

  2. I love anything with dots. And your circle is amazing! Circles frighten me. Oh, and applique. Both of those are definitely NOT my specialty!

  3. Your blocks look great! I love the new take on 9 patch. I don't think I really have a speciality block, either. However, I do get into a nice little sewing zone when making wonky log cabins. I know they are really that special, but I like them. And I agree with Anne, I think your quilt blocks are definitely organic! I love popping by to see what you've been working on. =]

  5. beautiful blocks. Wow...that's a hard task...finding a specialty. I think that my specialty is more the way that I combine fabrics than the blocks that I make with them. so that would have been a tough task. What an interesting challenge.

  7. Where did June go? I asked the same thing the other day...June was such a blur to me! I'm hoping that the rest of July and all of August will be more productive. I love the blocks you made!!!

  8. I like that circle block. I actually (before visiting your blog today) was thinking of making some circle string blocks. Great minds think alike! Oh and congrats for winning a jelly roll over at Miss Print! I'm so jealous

  9. What happened to June? What happened to July??? Beautiful blocks. I love the circle one! I really don't think I have a block "style." In fact, I kind of think I try not to. I tend to try and push myself to try new techniques and designs. I think that may be why I enjoy the Dear Jane quilt so much-- never the same block twice! :)
