Painting:Part 1 and a quick project

There wasn't much sewing this weekend since my sewing machine was completely trapped behind stuff from our living room.
Trapped Sewing Machine

Why, you ask?
Because I cashed in part one of this coupon I got from Jon as part of my Christmas present.

The walls used to be the color of dirty water and now they are so so so much better. The color ended up a little lighter than we expected, but a little darker than in the photo. That room doesn't get a ton of light, so it's probably for the best. I'm pretty proud of us considering it was our first time picking paint colors.
Living Room's New Paint Job

Part 2 of the coupon involves painting the treehouse, a.k.a. our den/sewing room. It's going to be yellow. And awesome. I'm excited.

The painting motivated me to get some other organizing done, so I whipped up these mailbag pouches using a pattern in One Yard Wonders. The pattern is only for the big pouch, but I wanted a pouch for both Jon and I so I changed the dimensions and made 2 smaller ones to go with the big one holding coupons and take out menus.

I probably didn't need to use a pattern for this project, but it was really nice to have someone else figure out the dimension and construction instructions.

  2. Nice weekend project! The paint color looks nice. I know hoow hard it is to get it to translate nicely in a photo. The mail bags are a great idea and I agree it is nice when someone else does the figuring. Have fun unearthing the sewing room.

  4. Oh, my! You have the same exact cookie jar that my grandmother had. Exactly. Brings back such fond memories.

I love the organizer pockets - Those would be perfect on my kitchen wall to help catch all the clutter on top of the fridge and all over the counters.

  5. Woohoo, getting some painting done is always good! Can't wait to see the colour of the tree house, and great job with the wall organizer! I too received One Yard Wonders for Christmas and am having a hard time deciding what to make first.

  6. The wall color looks beautiful! Don't you love freshly painted rooms? Your totes on a rail are a great storage idea and the fabrics are wonderful.
